Birthdays are celebrated differently all around the world, but one thing that is common is the affection shown towards the birthday boy or girl.
In Brazil, the earlobes of the person celebrating the birthday are pulled once for each year. In Australia, the birthday child receives a clap for each year. In America, the birthday 'bumps' - someone holds the hands and another the feet and they gently bounce the child on the floor once for each year. In Canada, the guest of honour receives butter on their nose!
In Norway, pancakes and fruit are the birthday dish of choice, while an ice cream cake is common in hotter countries over summer.
